About Art Tips

When creating Web pages for online classes, you should keep in mind that students will usually be required to read a great deal of text on a computer monitor. Pages will be easier for them to read if you:

   • Break up long paragraphs into shorter ones
   • Provide visuals to help break up the content and illustrate the lesson.

There are two main phases to the process: acquiring the images and editing the images. These Art Tips pages provide you with tips for both phases.

For editing your images, there are a variety of software applications available to do the job. These tips cover several different programs on both the Windows and Mac OS platforms. Check the Software Options page for information about which packages are available and how to aquire them.

When tackling the image editing, the steps listed above are in the order in which you should generally perform them. When editing the pixels of the image, such as with red eye correction or using any of the painting tools (including cloning, dodging, burning, etc.), you will want to work with more pixels for a smoother effect. Reduce the size of the image after performing these types of edits.
