Quick Guide for Tests and Exercises

"Quick Guides" are brief instructions for using a specific module. For detailed Help documentation, visit the Help Main Menu.

The Test and Exercise module is for making any kind of Web-based form in which the visitor (usually a student) enters information which is then processed and delivered somewhere.

Whether test, exercise, quiz, exam, survey, feedback, evaluation, registration form or anything else, the overall construction process is the same.

To begin, click the button labeled "Create new test" or "Add test."

After naming the test, you'll be automatically taken to the main page of the test. From there you should edit the overall test configurations to suit your needs. If necessary, you can always change them.

Next, set the overall feedback, if any, for the test as a whole.

Then you'll want to create a set of questions by clicking on the "Add set" button. Depending on the magnitude and complexity of your test, you'll probably only need a single set of questions, but you can create as many as you want.

After creating an empty set, then you'll want to adjust the set configurations.

Most of the time you can use the "Quick Entry" button to enter batches of similar questions.

Alternatively, you can also create questions and answers one at a time with the "Add question" button.

Either way, you'll be able to specify the answer (or answers) for each question.

You can repeat the process of entering batches of questions and answers, and/or you can keep entering them one at a time, until you have all the questions and answers needed for this set of questions.

As you go along, you can create feedback at the question level and/or answer level to provided customized responses.

After you've built and configured the test to your satisfaction, then you can put links on other webpages to point to the test, or you can embed the test directly onto pages built with the Presentation module.
