Biography

I was born and raised in Sonoma County, attending Whited Elementary School, Rincon Valley Junior High, and Maria Carrillo High School (Go Pumas!). After high school, I decided to leave Northern California and headed to UCLA for my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics (after only three changes of my major).

During my second year at UCLA, I realized my dream of teaching and applied for the UCLA Joint Teacher Education Program, with a dual emphasis in the Teaching of Mathematics and Bilingual Education.

After graduating UCLA with my Master's Degree in Education, I taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District, at Garfield, Roosevelt, and West Adams Preparatory High Schools. I had the opportunity to work in an extremely diverse and challenging environment, teaching Algebra and Pre-Algebra in both English and Spanish.

After several years out of Sonoma County, I realized how much I loved and missed my hometown, and was extremely honored to accept a position at the Santa Rosa Junior College. When not teaching, I enjoy being active (yoga and ultimate frisbee), reading, pottery, and relaxing.
