Biography

    Bennett Friedman attended Berkeley High School, San Francisco State University and Berklee College of Music. He worked many years in San Francisco and the Bay Area doing studio work, jazz gigs, performing with Motown horn sections, theater orchestras, symphony orchestras, composing and teaching.

    Bennett started teaching full-time at SRJC in 1977.

    "Music is one of the greatest treasures in life. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my love of music with students at Santa Rosa Junior College."

    Performances at Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey Bay Blues Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival, Stanford Jazz Festival, Russian River Jazz Festival. Performances as soloist with Frank Sinatra and Marvin Gaye. Performances with Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Rosemary Clooney, Sammy Davis Jr., The Temptations, The Four Tops, San Francisco Symphony, California Symphony, San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.

    Works commissioned by the National Association of Jazz Educators, National Endowment for the Arts, University of California Bands and College of San Mateo.
