Education

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Science (magna cum laude) from San Francisco State University. Social Science majors designed their own course of study around a central theme -- mine was justice. My senior thesis compared the treatment of minorities in Northern Ireland and Israel.

I received my Masters Degree in Political Science (magna cum laude) from the University of California at Berkeley. My master's thesis examined the relationship between the Saudi royal family and the Wahhabis.

Travel has been an important part of my education. The most rewarding travel experiences I have had combined study and travel, whether studying Irish politics and literature in Dublin, exploring the Gandhian legacy with Gandhi's grandson in India, or studying Italian in Italy.

I have also travelled throughout Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (Tunisia and Egypt), Peru, Mexico, and Canada.

Academic Experience

Golden Gate University, Adjunct Faculty, 1988-89
College of Marin, Adjunct Faculty, 1989-1990
Santa Rosa Junior College, Full-time faculty, 1990-present

Professional Areas of Interest

I teach Introduction to U.S. Government and International Relations. I'm particularly interested in the U.S. Court system, the politics of food, and political developments in the Middle East and Italy.
