The Engineering & Physics Department provides a standard core of lower division engineering and physics courses to prepare students to transfer to a four-year university to complete an engineering or science bachelor’s degree. We also offer physics courses to fulfill general education requirements and self-enrichment goals. In addition to developing an understanding of basic concepts of Physics and Engineering and their applications in the world in which we live, our courses develop analytical thinking, problem solving, visualization, design, and laboratory skills.
Our department is especially proud of its wide range of student activities and clubs. The department hosts TEC (The Engineer’s Club), WISE (Women In Science and Engineering), and SWE (Society of Women Engineers). Each year, we also bring the students together for various engineering and physics events and activities including a job shadow program, fieldtrips, transfer workshops, and special projects. Even more activities and support are offered through SRJC’s MESA Program (Math Engineering and Science Achievement).
Civil engineering etudents should apply ASAP for the ACEC/ASCE Civil Engineering Scholarships. There is $8000 up for grabs for SRJC students. In years past, every applicant has received money (up to $1000!). Applicants also get to meet the people who will be hiring you in a few years. Use this link to get the Application:
