Chemistry Department

The Chemistry Department at Santa Rosa Junior College is staffed by a dynamic group of individuals who have great enthusiasm for teaching chemistry. The department maintains high standards and places primary emphasis on quality undergraduate education. The Department houses 36 Macintosh computers with data acquisition interfaces that support and enhance classroom and laboratory instruction.

In addition to the typical college chemistry laboratory equipment, the General Chemistry and Analytical laboratories are each equipped with both ethernet and wireless communication networks with laser printers strategically located throughout the building. The Organic Chemistry Laboratory lockers are equipped with microscale apparatus. State of the art instruments are maintained for student use, such as a GC/Mass spectrometer, a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectrometer, UV-Visible spectrometers, a Fourier-Transform Infrared spectrometer, and a Fast Sequential Atomic Absorption spectrometer.
