Physiology is the study of the function of the body, its cells, organs, and systems. Most students study human Physiology in conjunction with Anatomy, and have the same goal, becoming an allied health professional, such as a paramedic, nurse, or dental hygienist. Many schools have combined Anatomy / Physiology courses but these courses are usually taught separately at SRJC. Students have successfully taken either course first, but it is strongly recommended to take Anatomy first. There are two specialized combined anatomy and physiology courses: ANAT 140 and ANAT 40.
Each Physiology course is designed to prepare students for different allied health professions. Check our Anatomy & Physiology Course Descriptions to be sure you enroll in the correct course. Many students have questions about the allied health prerequisite science courses. Please read information on Allied Health Prerequisite Science Classes, including best course sequences and strategies to get into these impacted courses.
