"Baker
Baker Hall, built in 1966, was named to honor Milo Baker. Milo Baker taught botany at SRJC, 1922-1945. He established the North Coast Herbarium at the College, and donated his private collection to that resource in 1933. He was a nationally recognized expert on the violet family of western America. Mr. Baker was well beyond his ninetieth year when he taught Botany 5 (Introductory Field) while continuing to tend the Herbarium during retirement. For more information, read the Press Democrat article on Milo Baker.

diatom
Baker Hall is designed to resemble a species of diatom as seen in the image to the left. It has a round center containing two large lecture rooms and a lab that was intended to serve as a greenhouse. Radiating from the center are three rectangular wings. Wing A contains four life science laboratories for botany, zoology and introductory biology. Wing B contains the microbiology and physiology laboratories, a small lecture room, and faculty offices. Wing C is the anatomy wing, newly remodeled with two state of the art anatomy labs, a large lecture room, faculty offices, a conference room and the Life Sciences Department Office.
