Art Department

Scholarships

Each spring the Art Department faculty awards scholarships based on excellence and evidence of serious commitment and potential. Students with a college degree in art are not eligible. Please note that financial need is not a requirement, but may be considered in determining award amounts.

Individual scholarship amounts in the form of cash awards may be as much as $1000. Application deadline is to be announced.

The Art Department views the selection process as one that provides encouragement and support for continued work in the visual arts—on both campuses or and other sites. The committee prefers the submission of work that reflects departmental teaching concerns rather than what is completed independent of instruction.

To be considered applicants:

  • Must be presently enrolled at SRJC in the current semester and engaged in at least a second semester at SRJC

  • Must have completed or currently be completing a minimum of nine (9) units of art at SRJC; six of these units must be from the Art Core Cirriculum (Art 1.1/ 1.2, 2.1/2.2, 3, 4,5, or 7A)

  • Must be undertaking more units at SRJC than at another college, if enrolled at both

A complete application for the art scholarship may be obtained at the SRJC Art Department office in Analy Hall during the spring semester.
