Adapted PE Course Offerings

DRD 250.2 - Stress Management
An introductory course in the theory and practice of stress management for students with disabilities. Principles and techniques of stress management with an emphasis on enhancement of disability management skills through the application of effective stress management practices.

DRD 360.3 - College Success 3
This course provides opportunities to learn about and practice college study skills for students with disabilities. Topics include: strategies and techniques for textbook reading, memory and concentration strategies. This class also includes topics specific to the use of academic accommodations and disability-related services.

DRD 363 - Intro Career Development

Career planning and job search techniques for students with disabilities who are uncertain about their educational and vocational goals. Includes: personal interests, values, and personality testing; overview of labor market trends; disability management including addressing functional limitations in the work place; strategies for career planning; and individualized assistance in job search techniques. (Formerly offered as DRD 361)

DRD 705 - Hearing Loss Strategies

This course provides education and support for adults with hearing loss. The course focuses on topics such as hearing technology (cochlear implants and hearing aids), community resources, and overcoming communication challenges.

DRD 784 - Assistive Technology Lab

This is a lab course for students with disabilities who are able to use the Assistive Technology Training Center (ATTC) without direct instruction. An individual adaptive technology plan is created during an intake meeting with an Assistive Technology Specialist prior to course registration. Students then participate in structured mini workshops and engage in independent lab time in order to meet individual academic access and production needs.
