Welcome, SRJC Colleagues, to our Accreditation Self-Study Tutorial! Every six years the AACJC/WASC requires that colleges go through an accreditation review and recertification process. This begins with the internal college community taking a critical look at ourselves, using Standards defined by the accrediting body. This process is called a “self-study” and has already begun. I urge you to familiarize yourself with this important process by taking the tutorial that follows. If you are interested in helping SRJC re-affirm our best practices and identify areas for future improvement, please contact Fran Golden, Gary Allen, or myself to join a Standard Committee. SRJC is a fabulous place to work, providing essential services to our community and quality education to our students. I hope you will join me in making this Self-study a valuable tool to help us retain what is best and plan for an even better future. |

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Accreditation Self study Chair. An accreditation self study is an excellent opportunity for all of us who work at SRJC to have a voice in making this an even better institution. In the process of creating our self study report, we will have representatives from classified, faculty, management, and students on our nine standards committees. It is because of this broad-based forum for dialogue and inquiry that I decided to get involved. By comparing our policies and practices here at SRJC to the best practices statements contained in the Accreditation Standards, we can recognize what we do well and make constructive suggestions for improvement. I look forward to working with representatives from many different areas of our college, and if you have questions about the process or how to get involved, please do not hesitate to contact me.
