Alternate media includes instructional materials, textbooks, and college publications, which are converted into accessible formats for students with disabilities. The purpose of alternate media is to allow access for students who due to their disability cannot easily use standard print materials.
** In order to receive course materials in alternate formats, you must be a current DRD student with authorization from your Specialist **
Requests can only be made in person at the Assistive Technology Center. The Assistive Technology Center is located in 2 convenient locations:
Submit your request as soon as you register for classes! Requests can be made before you purchase your course materials. Alternate media will be provided, once Proof of Purchase is received.
SJRC DRD Proof of Purchase Requirement:
Santa Rosa Junior College, Disability Resources Department, requires that students provide Proof of Purchase before receiving their Alternate Media request. Proof of Purchase can be demonstrated by providing an ORIGINAL RECEIPT , to the Assistive Technology Center, of purchase for each textbook/reader. IF an original receipt is unavailable the student may sign a document stating that he or she owns the textbook. Standard Production Time for Alternate Media is approximately 14 days from the initial date of request.
