Welcome

The Distance Education office (formerly known as the CATE office) at Santa Rosa Junior College hosts SRJC's online classes as well as Web-based materials created for face-to-face classes by SRJC faculty. The Distance Ed office also assists faculty with creating and maintaining online classes and Web-based instructional materials, and DE provides information and resources for SRJC faculty and students who participate in Web-based teaching and learning.

Use the links in the two rows of tabs above to learn more about online classes at SRJC, locate class webpages, and find faculty homepages. The "Information for Students" tab leads students to resources such as assessing readiness to take an online class, completing the check-in process for an online class, and using the automated password reminder page. The "Information for Faculty" tab takes SRJC faculty and staff to resources for online curriculum development, including how to request an online account, create and maintain Web-based materials, and conduct online classes with our courseware management tools. The "Site Index" tab leads to an alphabetical listing of Distance Ed webpages and Internet-based instructional resources at SRJC for students and faculty.

We're sure you'll agree that Web-based classes are a great way to enhance your educational experience at SRJC!

Message of the Day

On 17 February 2012 from approximately 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM the following day, the IT department will be performing maintenance work. As a consequence, during that period all classes running CATE and/or Moodle software will be unable to communicate with SRJC servers, seriously limiting the ability to log in to classes, work in classes, create classes, update class material, etc. Please plan accordingly.

Monday, 9 January 2012
Looking for your class website for the new semester? You can find links to all SRJC online classrooms via our Class Homepages link. However, keep in mind that most instructors don't open their sites until class actually begins, or just a day or two beforehand. If you still have difficulty finding your class pages, you can contact the instructor.

SERVER DOWN TIME

At 3:05 am every morning the server will be unavailable for approximately five minutes during our daily back-up procedures.
In addition, the hours between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday evenings are always reserved for system maintenance. Most of the time this maintenance will not affect use of the system by students and instructors, but occasionally there will be a temporary outage during that period.
These interruptions apply to everything hosted on the server, including the CATE and Moodle courseware management systems and all classes in both those systems.
Please plan your online schedule accordingly.

IT Department (Formerly Computing Services)
The CATE server (online.santarosa.edu) which hosts online class materials at SRJC is largely reliant on campus-wide resources maintained by IT (such as the campus network, DNS, firewall, etc). For further information about campus-wide infrastructure and services, the IT department makes the following available:
